• Evince 3.10 with menubar

  I find that the 2 buttoms menu from the evince v3.10.0 are not really useful. Why did ubuntu NOT re add an menubar?. It would have been looking better in unity ! The unity top panel has enough space for an normal program menu. Here is an screenshot of what i mean: (The program works already in ubuntu 13.10 with unity or cinnamon fine. Some little compiler warnings but nothing more) Example in Cinnamon or in unity

• Rotate camera around player and set new forward directions

  I have a 3rd person camera which can rotate around the player. When I look at the back of the player and press forward, player goes forward. Then I rotate 360 around the player and "forward direction" is tilted for 90 degrees. So every 360 turn there is 90 degrees of direction change. For example when camera is facing the right side of the player, when I press button to move forward, I want player to turn to the left and make that the "new forward". I have Player object with Camera as child object. Camera object has Camera script. Inside Camera script there are Player and Camera classes. Player object itself, has Input Controller. Also I'm making this script for joystick/ controller primarily. • JavaOne 2012: Camel, Twitter, Coherence, Wicket and GlassFish

  Before joining Oracle as Product Manager for WebLogic and GlassFish for Latin America, at the beggining of this year I proposed two talks to JavaOne USA that I had been presenting in Brazil for quite a while. One of them I presented last year at ApacheCon in Vancouver, Canada as well in JavaOne Brazil. In June I got the news that they were accepted as Alternate Sessions. Surprisingly enough, few weeks later and at the same time I joined Oracle, I received the news that they were officially accepted and put on schedule. Tomorrow I'll be flying to San Francisco, to my first JavaOne in the United States, and I wanted to share with you what I'm going to present there. My two sessions are these ones: Wed, 10/03, 4:30pm - CON2989 Leverage Enterprise Integration Patterns with Apache Camel and TwitterOn this one, you will be introducted to the Apache Camel framework that I had been talking about in Brazil at conferences, before joining Oracle, and to a component I contributed to integrate with Twitter. Also, you will have a preview of a new component I've been working on to integrate Camel with the Oracle Coherence distributed cache. Thu, 10/04, 3:30pm - CON3395 How Scala, Wicket, and Java EE Can Improve Web DevelopmentThis one I've been working on for quite a while. It was based on an idea to have an architecture that could be as agile as frameworks and technologies such as Ruby on Rails, PHP or Python, for rapid web development. You will be introduced to the Apache Wicket framework, another Apache project I enjoy working with and gave lots of talks at Brazilian conferences, including JavaOne Brazil, JustJava, QCon SP, and The Developers Conference. You will also be introduced to the Scala language and how to create nice DSLs to boost productiveness. And last but not least, the Java EE 6 platform, that offers an awesome improvement from previous versions with its CDI, JPA, EJB3 and JAX-RS features for web development. • Obtaining the correct Client IP address when a Physical Load Balancer and a Web Server Configured With Proxy Plug-in Are Between The Client And Weblogic

  Some Load Balancers like Big-IP have build in interoperability with Weblogic Cluster, this means they know how Weblogic understand a header named 'WL-Proxy-Client-IP' to identify the original client ip.The problem comes when you have a Web Server configured with weblogic plug-in between the Load Balancer and the back-end weblogic servers - WL-Proxy-Client-IP this is not designed to go to Web server proxy plug-in. The plug-in will not use a WL-Proxy-Client-IP header that came in from the previous hop (which is this case is the Physical Load Balancer but could be anything), in order to prevent IP spoofing, therefore the plug-in won't pass on what Load Balancer has set for it.So unfortunately under this Architecture the header will be useless. To get the client IP from Weblogic you need to configure extended log format and create a custom field that gets the appropriate header containing the IP of the client.On WLS versions prior to 10.3.3 use these instructions:You can also create user-defined fields for inclusion in an HTTP access log file that uses the extended log format. To create a custom field you identify the field in the ELF log file using the Fields directive and then you create a matching Java class that generates the desired output. You can create a separate Java class for each field, or the Java class can output multiple fields. In this case, set that to be X-Forwarded-For header coming from Load Balancer as well.

But then an email from Glen Hawkins from the Enterprise Management team hit my Inbox and I started viewing this video. It was about the world’s largest convenience store chain, 7-Eleven, focusing on creating the best Digital Guest Experience (DGE) for their customers. Turns out that Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) powers 7-Eleven’s DGE Middleware Platform as a Service solution that consists of Oracle SOA Suite, Exalogic, and Exadata. “We need to present a consistent view of 7-Eleven across all our endpoints: 10,000 stores & various digital entities like our websites and apps”, said Ronald Clanton, the DGE Program Director for 7-Eleven. As 7-Eleven was rolling out a loyalty program with mobile support across multiple geos, it had many complex business & technical requirements, including supporting a wide variety of different apps, 10M guests in NA alone, ability to support high speed transactions, and very aggressive timelines. A key requirement was shortening the cycle for provisioning new environments. Whereas with other vendors this would take a few weeks, Oracle consulting showed them how with OEM provisioning new environments would take half a day, which was quite impressive. 7-Eleven has started to roll out this new program and are delighted to report that some provisioning cycles are as low as 10 minutes which includes provisioning the full Oracle SOA suite, Exalogic and more. • Why is Ubuntu 12.04 taking very long to start and run programs?

  I have a Toshiba laptop with 2.8 gb of ram, 1.87x2 GHz processor, and Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit on it as a partition installed with wubi. It takes 5-10 mins to start up, and opening any program (such as Chromium, Chrome, Skype, Firefox, Thundermail, etc) takes over half a minute. I stopped using Unity because my graphic card couldn't handle it and swapped over to Cinnamon. It's a little better, but everything is still really really slow. Any suggestions/solutions?

A few time ago, I got my first experience with EF and Oracle with Oracle 10 g express and Oracle 10 g with the same results, Doesn’t work. Now I download Oracle 11 g to Test again. Tools To start using EF with Oracle we need the following: 1. Visual Studio 2010. No Express Edition 2. Oracle 11g 3 Oracle Driver for EF (ODAC) Intro People, who are starting with EF developments, I recommend to take a look into Unai Zorrilla’s Blog, the post were written in Spanish but they are great! To this Serie, we are going to define the DB from the Oracle administrator. For that we need to follow the next steps: 1. Create a User with a PassWord. In my example the user will be Jtorrecilla 2. Create a TableSpace 3. Define some example tables   (Image1) When we have created the DB, we are going to start a new project in VS 2010. I will start a C# Project. To start with EF, we need to add a new objet to our Project “ADO .NET Entity Data Model". (Image2) The next step will be to indicate that our model will be based on an existing DB, and indicate the connection string (Images 3 and 4): (Imagen3) (Imagen4) Once we selected the connection string, we will need to indicate that in the connection will be saved “Sensitive” data (Image 5), and in the next step we are going to select the DB objets to use in the project(Image 6).   (Image 5) (Image 6) A the end of the selection, we will press Finish button, and it will generate a EDMX file to add to our solution, and in the IDE will appear the DB Schema with the selected Tables and Relations. (Imagen7) One Entity is composed by a set of properties (each matches with a column from the Table in the DB) and Navigation Properties that represents any relation with other Entities.   Finally With this chapter we have installed the environment, defined a DB and configured the solution to start using EF with Oracle.   Lazyloading images with a noscript fallback. Should I expect any damage in the SERPs? The site is completely thumbnail based. Also should I put a smaller image size in the noscript fallback to increase crawlability? We have nearly 1mil thumbs so it's a decision I'm hesitant to do. The reason why I'm thinking about it in the first place is because we're upping thumbail size about 50% which will add 10% of pagesize.

  I downloaded the files from ubuntu and ran wubi.exe assuming that is how i install ubuntu. (This is my first time installing anything other than windows and not using a CD.) Ubuntu Installer completed but said there was an error.
